FAQ

You might be curious about...

So what does “holistic therapy” mean?

For me, holistic therapy means less emphasis on what diagnosis you have, and more focus on approaches that embrace the mind-body-soul connection. Traditional psychology has treated these entities as “separate.” What we often see happening now in traditional therapy spaces is a person is provided “tools” to “manage” their symptoms. Although tools can be helpful, they are bandaids (and bandaids can be necessary as a step towards healing the wound, right? It's just not the ONLY step). I have personally seen people make transformative and long lasting changes by approaching their symptoms through the mind-body-soul connection. Through understanding their individual nervous system and how their survival adaptations developed, this can create a deeper connection and compassion within yourself that facilitates personal expansion and growth in more ways than if we were just focusing solely on the “symptom.”

What is the difference between your therapy practice and consulting practice?

Both embody my therapy approach, values and practices. The major difference is that, "Amanda Teixeira LLC" (with my own professional liability insurance) is a way for me to still provide service to people who qualify for coaching outside of states where I am licensed for therapy. Integrity is an important value in how I conduct my practice, so doing this legitimately, where me and YOU are protected is very important to me. There are also different qualifying factors for coaching vs therapy. Not only is it the state you live, but also the severity and presentation of your symptoms and goals. Coaching is a great service for anyone who is goal oriented, and has a pointed, or specific area that would like to process or vision they want to achieve. It is not for individuals who are struggling with self harm, suicidal ideation, or are in crisis. Those individuals will likely want to find a licensed provider in their state to ensure the best continuity of care for themselves. The coaching service is also out of pocket only as it is not categorized as licensed therapy.

For my therapy clients, I can accept some insurances, such as BCBS, UHC and NHP.

What are your fees?

I offer a sliding scale that is based on pay what you can. This is on the honors system, I will not be verifying any income and determining the fee myself. The individual can be responsible for deciding what they can pay within the scale that I have established. The scale is as follows:

$105-155 for 60 minutes.

If you plan on using your insurance, you are responsible for the co-pay or deductible that goes with your insurance plan.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel the same day or no show a session, a $75 dollar fee will be charged. Canceling the day prior saves you from paying this fee.

How are payments made?

I use Stripe through Simple Practice. When you agree to services, you agree to keeping a card on file, which will be charged after each session. Some copays and deductibles will be charged after the insurance has processed the claim- which can sometimes take up to two weeks.

What platforms are virtual sessions conducted?

Zoom or Simple Practice. Both of these platforms are HIPAA compliant and ensure your confidentiality and security for engaging in therapy.

What does commitment need to look like?

Commitment can be flexible as long as we are transparent about it. For example, you can start on a weekly or biweekly basis, but then decide you wish to either increase or decrease your frequency of sessions. As long as I am aware ahead of time, I can be flexible with you.

There are even opportunities for people who don't wish to commit to a therapy slot, but just feel they may want one or two sessions to process something specific. For example, a couple that may want to process a previous birth and postpartum experience, as they prepare the upcoming birth and postpartum of another child. This is a great opportunity for people to process and fine tune their plans while remaining on the same page with each other.

What is your current availability?

The following appointment slots are available in eastern time,

Tuesdays: 130pm, 3:30 biweekly

Thursdays: Potential appointments available for 10 am

Do you offer virtual groups? I see this service on your website, but I don't see any active groups…

The current virtual circles are happening through The Mother Medicine Membership Community. This is an affordable open for those interested in a monthly sharing circle for women only. Please see more details of this service in my offerings tab.
